Malaika Cunningham is theatre-maker, producer and academic researcher focussed on creating democratic spaces through participatory performance and food. She has worked on research and participatory arts projects across the UK, Europe, & Canada. She is currently working with The School of Performance & Cultural Industries at the University of Leeds, The Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity and Brunel University. She is the Artistic Director of The Bare Project.

Her work is motivated by fear and anger about the future, as well as a belief that if we are going to make change, we need space for connection with strangers, for joy and play, and to imagine alternative ways of living.
